Chairman Marley called the Brier Planning Commission meeting to order at 7:05:59 PM.

ROLL CALL:

PRESENT:                                  Commissioner Marley, Olson, Smith, Joplin, Magnuson and Scott; Councilmember Kaemingk.

ABSENT:                                    Commissioner Thorpe.

STAFF:                                       City Planner Gaudette.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:

Chairman Marley opened for consideration approval of the September 16, 2009 Planning Commission minutes. Commissioner Olson made a MOTION to approve the September 16, 2009 Planning Commission minutes as written. Commissioner Smith SECONDED. Motion Carried.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Councilmember Kaemingk went over recent City Council activity.

PUBLIC REQUESTS & ORAL COMMUNICATIONS:

John Hendrickson 5919 NE 202 LN, Kenmore, suggested a detention pond by the entrance to the proposed Sunbrook Plat.

Elizabeth Mooney 5934 NE 201 ST, Kenmore, gave suggestions for protecting streams in Brier.

Commissioner Olson and Councilmember Kaemingk removed themselves from the meeting at 7:20:10 PM due to discussions regarding Sunbrook.

Peggy Dare 22320 Hickory Way, gave her thoughts on the current Critical Areas Ordinance and suggestions for updating the ordinance.

Commissioner Olson and Councilmember Kaemingk rejoined the meeting at 7:51:00 PM.

NEW BUSINESS:

Chairman Marley opened discussion to review a draft version of the new Critical Areas Ordinance. City Planner Gaudette explained the process for updating the ordinance. She went over the areas that should be updated.  The commissioners would like to break up the Code Recommendations to update them by sections. At the November meeting they will discuss the sections on Wetlands and Critical Aquifer Recharge Areas.
