BRIER PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES

BRIER CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS
November 18, 2009
7:00 PM

Chairman Marley called the Brier Planning Commission meeting to order at 7:03:30 PM.

 

ROLL CALL:

PRESENT:                                  Commissioner Marley, Olson, Joplin and Scott; Councilmember Kaemingk. Commissioner Thorpe arrived at 7:54:55 PM.

ABSENT:                                    Smith and Magnuson.

STAFF:                                       City Planner Gaudette.

 

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:

Chairman Marley opened for consideration approval of the October 21, 2009 Planning Commission minutes. Commissioner Scott made a MOTION to approve the October 21, 2009 Planning Commission minutes as written. Commissioner Joplin SECONDED. Motion Carried.

 

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Councilmember Kaemingk went over recent City Council activity.

 

PUBLIC REQUESTS & ORAL COMMUNICATIONS:

Eric Teagarden 2943 217th PL SW, voiced his and PERK’s opinion that they are not happy with the City and the process used for approval for the Sunbrook Subdivision. He stated that PERK does plan to appeal the decision of approval for the Sunbrook Development in superior court. He offered his services to the City to help develop our Critical Areas Ordinance.

7:06:02 PM Commissioner Olson and Councilmember Kaemingk removed themselves from the meeting due to discussions regarding Sunbrook.

7:08:37 PM Commissioner Olson and Councilmember Kaemingk rejoined the meeting.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

Chairman Marley opened discussion to review the Planning Commission’s annual report to the City Council. City Planner Gaudette went over the 2009 meetings. Commissioner Olson made a MOTION to forward the recap of the Planning Commission activities for 2009 thru the 11/18/09 meeting as written onto the City Council. Commissioner Scott SECONDED. Motion carried.

 

Chairman Marley opened discussion to review the wetland and critical aquifer recharge section of the proposed Critical Area Ordinance.  City Planner Gaudette went over various studies done and gave an overview of what the Commissioners will need to look at for updating the Ordinance. There was Commissioner discussion. The Commissioners asked City Planner Gaudette to contact neighboring Cities and see what their Ordinance’s say regarding critical aquifer recharge sections.

 

ADJOURNMENT:

Commissioner Thorpe made a MOTION to adjourn. Commissioner Scott SECONDED. Meeting adjourned at 8:27:29 PM.
