BRIER PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES

December 21, 2011
7:00 PM

Chairman Marley called the Brier Planning Commission meeting to order at 7:02:51 PM.

 

ROLL CALL:

PRESENT:                                  Commissioner Marley, Smith, Scott and Myers; Councilmember Kaemingk. Commissioner Weston arrived at 7:06:13 PM.

ABSENT:                                    Commissioner Magnuson.

STAFF:                                       City Planner Gaudette, Building Official Beverly and City Clerk-Treasurer Swisher.

 

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Councilmember Kaemingk discussed recent City Council activity.

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:

Chairman Marley opened for consideration approval of the November 16, 2011 Planning Commission minutes. Commissioner Smith made a MOTION to approve the November 16, 2011 Planning Commission minutes. Commissioner Myers SECONDED.  Motion Carried. Commissioner Scott abstained.

 

PUBLIC REQUESTS & ORAL COMMUNICATIONS:

Peggy Dare 22320 Hickory Way, representative of the Brier Horse Network, she was interested in the Wynbrook Plat that was voted on last month. She is an advocate of trails and keeping Brier’s semi-rural character. She handed out documentation regarding the special designation information about Old Poplar Way.

 

PUBLIC HEARINGS:

Chairman Marley stated that consideration and the Public Hearing for the Herzig Secondary Dwelling Unit Conditional Use Permit is being postponed. City Planner Gaudette advised the Commissioners that the Public Hearing has to be postponed due to an incomplete application. Chairman Marley opened the Public Hearing at 7:17:28 PM. Commissioner Weston made a MOTION to continue the Public Hearing to the February 15, 2012 meeting. Commissioner Scott SECONDED. Motion Carried.

Commissioner Smith recused himself due to the proximity of the property to his own.

 

MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS:

Chairman Marley opened the floor to Fire Marshall John Westfall of Snohomish County Fire District 1 to discuss the new outdoor burning regulations. Fire Marshall Westfall gave an overview of the regulations and how violations are dealt with. Commissioner Weston asked that language be added that states the fire will be kept contained within the burn area. A recommendation to add a new 8.04.040 item C new language shall read as “the person monitoring the fire shall assure the fire is contained within the maximum designated burning site”; and change the current C to D.

 

ADJOURNMENT:

Commissioner Smith made a MOTION to adjourn. Commissioner Weston SECONDED. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 7:51:22 PM.
