BRIER PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES
March 30, 2016
7:00 PM
Chairman Marley called the
Brier Planning Commission meeting to order at 7:06:38 PM.
ROLL CALL:
PRESENT: Commissioner DeMorett,
Marley, Rosman, Scott, Weston and Thorpe.
ABSENT: Commissioner Jonart.
STAFF: City Planner Gaudette, City
Attorney Kaseguma
PUBLIC HEARINGS:
Chairman Marley continued the Public
Hearing for Variance #V15-01 at 7:07:33 PM. City Planner Gaudette
presented a thorough review of the new information the applicant provided, with
a recommendation of denial to City Council.
The applicant Vladan
Milosavljevic summarized his request for this Variance. Mr. Milosavljevic
objected to taking public comment tonight. He stated that the Commission should
only be able to vote on the Variance and not hear any more public comments. He
explained he read on the MRSC website that a Public Hearing can only be
continued if there are too many people in attendance on the original Public
Hearing date. He feels at the March 16, 2016 meeting there were not too many
people there to cause the hearing to be continued.
City Attorney Kaseguma explained that the Planning Commission can
continue a Public Hearing for any reason the Planning Commission deems
appropriate.
Mary Ann Baltich of Brier, asked
what is the process if the Variance is approved, will there be anymore public
hearings on the usage of the building.
The Public Hearing was closed
at 7:22:23 PM.
Commissioner DeMorett made a MOTION to recommend denial of
Variance #V15-01 because it does not meet all eights points of the required
criteria outlined on the Brier Municipal Code, and asked for City staff to
prepare and present to the Commission a written recommendation based upon the
vote for consideration by the Commission at its regular meeting on April 20,
2016. Commissioner Thorpe SECONDED. Motion carried.
ADJOURNMENT:
Commissioner Rosman made a MOTION to adjourn. Commissioner Scott SECONDED.
Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 7:27:38 PM.
