Chairman Marley called the Brier Planning Commission meeting to order at 7:02 PM.

ROLL CALL:

Present: Commissioners Marley, Scott, Rosman, DeMorret, Jonart, Hanson, and Councilmember Gallagher.

Absent: Commissioner Weston.

Staff: City Planner Flathman.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:

Chairman Marley opened for consideration approval of the April 18, 2018 Planning Commission minutes. Motion: Approve the April 18, 2018 Planning Commission minutes. Moved by Commissioner Hanson, Seconded by Commissioner DeMorret. Motion Carried.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Councilmember Gallagher discussed recent City Council activity.

PUBLIC REQUESTS & ORAL COMMUNICATIONS: None.

NEW BUSINESS:

Chairman Marley opened for discussion on proposed amendments to Brier Municipal Code (BMC), Code Amendement (CA) No. CA18-01 to Chapter 17.38 Signs. City Planner Flathman gave a detailed review of the proposed changes.

There was Commissioner discussion. Typographical and grammar corrections were made.

Chairman Marley opened for discussion on proposed amendments to Brier Municipal Code (BMC), Code Amendement (CA) No. CA18-02 to Chapter 17.50 Native Vegetation and Landscaping and adding a new Chapter 17.52 Tree Protection. City Planner Flathman gave a detailed review of the proposed changes.There was Commissioner discussion.

Commissioner Marley feels like the Minor Tree Permit should not be required for the homeowner, they should be able to do as they see fit on their property.

Commissioner Hanson would like to see stricter definition for "Arborist". He would also like a definition added for "Structural Defect". And would also like to see protection for a tree that encroaches on a neighbors property.

Commissioner Rosman suggested moving 17.52.140.D.6 to 17.52.140.D.2.
