Commission Chairman Szalda called the meeting to order at 7:35 PM.

 

ROLL CALL: Present: Commissioners Szalda, Nixdorf, and Zenk.

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Commissioner Nixdorf moved and Commissioner Zenk seconded to approve the   Civil Service Commission Meeting Minutes of March 3, 2005.  Motion carried.

 

OLD BUSINESS

 

A.                  Commissioner Szalda opened for discussion the status of the new Civil Service Rules. All requested additions previously discussed have been incorporated into the draft rules. Discussed Lateral Entry requirements and where in the new rules it should be incorporated. It was determined 2 years full-time experience with not more than 12 months lapse of employment as a full-time commissioned police officer would be required. It was determined these requirements would be added to section 7.8 - Eligibility Requirements, with reference to requirements in section 6.2 – General Requirements for Filing Applications.

 

Discussion ensued regarding the process for reviewing and final approval of the new rules. It was determined the completed draft rules would be forwarded to the Mayor requesting authorization to forward them to Mr. Dijulio for review. 

 

NEW BUSINESS:

MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS:

 

A.                  Secretary Halverson dispersed notice of a Civil Service Seminar sponsored by Ogden, Murphy, Wallace to be held on May 13, 2005 in Seattle. No further discussion.

 

ADJOURNMENT: Commissioner Nixdorf moved and Commissioner Zenk seconded to adjourn the meeting. Commissioner Szalda declared the meeting adjourned at 8:10 PM.
