Commission Chairman Szalda called the meeting to order at 1:35 PM.

 

ROLL CALL: Present: Commissioners Szalda and Nixdorf.

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Commissioner Nixdorf moved and Commissioner Szalda seconded to approve the   Civil Service Commission Meeting Minutes of August 9, 2006.  Motion carried.

 

OLD BUSINESS

 

A.                  DISCUSS CIVIL SERVICE RULES FOR NON-UNIFORMED PERSONNEL. Commissioner Szalda opened for discussion the Non-Uniformed Civil Service Rules. The second draft of the Non- Uniformed Civil Service Rules were dispersed. Commissioner Nixdorf expressed concern regarding how complete these rules need to be. City Attorney, Tom Evans, had submitted an email recommending the entire text included in these rules. Discussion ensued regarding content. It was determined the second draft along with the Civil Service Commission Bylaws for Police Department would be sent to Mr. Evans for clarification of the need for any further additions as it is unclear what Mr. Evans means by “entire text”.

 

MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS:

 

A.         CIVIL SERVICE CONFERENCE

Commissioner Nixdorf inquired on the status of the conference registrations and accommodations.  Secretary Halverson informed the Commissioners they should be receiving their confirmation information via email. A City credit card will be provided to pay for any accommodations and meals or attendees may pay themselves and request reimbursement.

 

B.                  PERSONNEL STATUS UPDATE

Commissioner Szalda opened for discussion personnel update. Secretary Halverson reported Officer Grass did not make probation. The next three eligible candidates from the current list have been provided to the Chief for further processing.

 

C.                  NEXT MEETING.

Commissioner Szalda opened for discussion scheduling of the next meeting. It was determined the next Civil Service Meeting is scheduled for November 22, 2006 @ 1:30 PM.  Meetings are typically scheduled for the first Wednesday of each month.

 

ADJOURNMENT: Commissioner Nixdorf moved and Commissioner Szalda seconded to adjourn the meeting. Commissioner Szalda declared the meeting adjourned at 1:52 PM.
