Commissioner Peterson called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM.

ROLL CALL:

Present: Commissioner Peterson, Commissioner Williamson.

Absent: Commissioner Leonard.

Staff:Police Chief Almquist, Civil Service Secretary Snowden.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:

Chairperson Peterson opened for consideration approval of the Civil Service Commission minutes of June 1, 2022. Motion: Approval of the Civil Service meeting minutes from June 1^st. Moved by Commissioner Peterson, Seconded by Commissioner Williamson. Motion Carried.

OLD BUSINESS: Commissioners talked about the Civil Service Commission mission statement and Commissioner Williamson distributed samples from different cities. Commissioner Williamson talked about why he thought a mission statement should be considered and supplied a proposal. Discussion ensued between the commissioners regarding the verbiage needed. Commissioner Peterson took a minute to review. Commissioner Peterson asked Chief Almquist for any suggestions.

Commissioners Peterson and Williamson discussed and asked questions regarding the process of the Oral Board and the hiring process. Chief Almquist answered their questions and gave an overview of the hiring process first being an Entry-level candidate then applying as a Lateral candidate.

NEW BUSINESS:

Chairperson Peterson opened for consideration for approval of the Entry-Level Certification List. Motion: Approval of the Entry-Level candidate list, Moved by Commissioner Peterson, Seconded by Commissioner Williamson. Motion Carried.

MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS:

Commissioner Williamson asked several questions regarding if the Police Chief should act as an advisory member to the commissioners, how the certification registers are prepared and ask for clarification regarding the Civil Service secretary duties.

There was additional discussion pertaining to the verbiage used in the mission statement.

Chief Almquist invited the Commissioners to attend "Coffee with a Cop" at Brier Pizza on November 30^th from 7:00am to 9:30am.
