BRIER PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES

November 18, 2020
7:00 PM

Chair DeMorett called the Brier Planning Commission meeting to order at 7:05 PM.

 

ROLL CALL:

Present: Commissioners DeMorret, Hanson, Kolden, Lenning, Rosman, Tastad and Councilmember Gallagher.

Absent: Commissioner Jonart.

Staff: Planner Flathman and Clerk-Treasurer Swisher.

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:

Chair DeMorett opened for consideration approval of the October 21, 2020 Planning Commission minutes. Motion: Approve the October 21, 2020 Planning Commission minutes, Moved by Commissioner Rosman, Seconded by Commissioner Hanson. Motion Carried.


COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Councilmember Gallagher discussed recent City Council activity.

 

PUBLIC REQUESTS & ORAL COMMUNICATIONS: None.


PUBLIC HEARINGS:

A.     Chair DeMorett opened the public hearing at 7:11 PM, for Conditional Use Permit No. CU20-03, to allow the use of an existing building in the Neighborhood Business Zone as a professional office for a law firm, located at 23711 Brier Rd. Planner Flathman gave an overview of the permit application with a recommendation to approve.

Justin Elsner the applicant, addressed the Commission with the law firm's background.

Commissioner Hanson asked what types of law do they practice.

Larry Hinrichs owner of the property, supports this business in Brier.

The public hearing closed at 7:26 PM.

Motion: Recommend approval to City Council for Conditional Use Permit No. CU20-03, to allow the use of an existing building in the Neighborhood Business Zone as a professional office for a law firm, located at 23711 Brier Rd, Moved by Commissioner Hanson, Seconded by Commissioner Rosman. Motion Carried.

B.     Chair DeMorett opened the public hearing at 7:28 PM, to propose Code Amendments No. 20-02, to update Brier Municipal Code (BMC) in regards to business licensing. Planner Flathman reviewed the proposed changes.

The public hearing was closed at 7:43 PM.

Motion: Recommend approval to City Council the Ordinance for Code Amendments No. 20-02, updates to Brier Municipal Code Chapters 5.04, 5.08, 5.16, 17.12, 17.24 and 17.30, Moved by Commissioner Rosman, Seconded by Commissioner Tastad. Motion Carried.

ADJOURNMENT:

Chair DeMorett adjourned the meeting at 7:47 PM.
