DeMorett opened for consideration approval of the March 22, 2023
Planning Commission minutes. Motion:
Approve the March 22, 2023 Planning Commission
minutes, Moved by Commissioner
Hanson, Seconded by Commissioner
Parsons. Motion Carried.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Councilmember
Krienke discussed recent City Council activity.
PUBLIC REQUESTS &
ORAL COMMUNICATIONS: None.
PUBLIC HEARINGS:
A.
Chair DeMorett opened the Public Hearing at 7:06 PM,
for Conditional Use Permit No. CU23-03, to construct a Secondary Dwelling Unit
at 23403 29 Avenue West. Planner
Michaelis reviewed the project details, with a recommendation to approve. The
applicant Justino Limon who is a longtime resident of
Brier, expressed the need for more space due to their growing family.
Dave Johnson of Brier, would have liked to see this lot allowed to be
short platted rather than a conditional use application, mainly because it
would have required the applicant to install a sidewalk. He feels for tax
purposes it is not fair that two homes can be on one lot and pay the same tax
as a lot with one home.
The
Commissioners asked clarifying questions.
The Public
Hearing closed at 7:27 PM.
Motion: To recommend
approval to City Council of Conditional Use Permit No. CU23-03, to construct a
Secondary Dwelling Unit at 23403 29 Avenue West, as written by city staff, Moved
by Commissioner Parsons, Seconded by Commissioner Schneider. Motion
Carried.
B.
Chair DeMorett opened the Public Hearing at 7:32 PM,
for Conditional Use Permit No. CU23-02, to remove three existing Sprint
Wireless antennas located on a Seattle City Light tower and install three new
Dish Wireless antennas, also remove two existing Sprint cabinets within the
fence enclosure and install one Dish Wireless
cabinet, located at 23520 39 Place West. Planner Michaelis reviewed the project
details, with a recommendation to approve.
Doug Gilbert of Mountlake Terrace, who
owns the property west of this property and claims access to these towers is
through his property, he would like to have Dish Wireless make an agreement
with him to access these towers.
Mike Slotemaker a consultant for Dish Wireless, said they
would be happy to work out an agreement out with the neighboring property.
The Commissioners asked clarifying
questions.
The Public Hearing closed at 7:41 PM.
Motion: To
recommend approval to City Council, Conditional Use Permit No. CU23-02, to
remove three existing Sprint Wireless antennas located on a Seattle City Light
tower and install three new Dish Wireless antennas, also remove two existing
Sprint cabinets within the fence enclosure and install one Dish Wireless

MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS:
The
agenda for next month’s meeting could have a conditional use application and a
subdivision application.
