BRIER PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES
July 19, 2023

Chair DeMorett called the
Brier Planning Commission meeting to order at 7:00 PM.
Roll Call:
Present: Commissioners DeMorett, Campbell, Hanson, Othman, Parsons,
Rosman and Schneider.
Absent: Councilmember
Krienke.
Staff: Planner Michaelis, Deputy Clerk Treasurer Snowden.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:

DeMorett opened for consideration approval of the June 21, 2023
Planning Commission minutes. Motion:
Approve the June 21, 2023 Planning Commission minutes,
Moved by Commissioner Campbell, Seconded by Commissioner Othman. Motion
Carried.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Planner
Michaelis attended the City Council workshop meeting where the condition of
Brier Park was discussed. National Night Out is on track for August 1st.
The Parks Board
committee is picking out a tree to be planted in Brier Park for the Holiday
Tree lighting and asked if Commissioners Parsons and Hanson would advise as to
what kind of tree would be best.

& S Development, LLC Septic System Replacement Conditional Use Permit
(CUP23-04).
The application is a request
for a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) to allow for the removal and replacement
of an on-site septic system to support the future construction of a
single-family residence on the property located at 22202 Locust Way Brier,
WA 98036. Pursuant to Brier Municipal Code (BMC)
Section 13.12.010, all new septic systems to be installed
in the city or any failed septic system that requires rebuilding or replacement
requires a conditional use permit Commissioner
DeMorett opened hearing at 7:05 PM. Planner Michaelis gave an overview of project.
Commissioner discussion along with clarifying the details of the plan. Shawn
Strootman, applicant for the project, was in the audience. Commissioner DeMorett closed the
public hearing at 7:23 PM.
Motion: To recommend approval to City Council, CUP23-03 in removal and
replacement of on-site septic system to support future construction of a single-family
resident on the property located at 22202 Locust Way, Brier, Moved by Commissioner Schneider. Seconded by Commissioner Parsons. Motion: To add the condition that the
drain field and tanks to be installed as located on the Amman drawings (Exhibit
9), Moved by Commissioner Hanson, Seconded by Commissioner Schneider.
Motions Carried.
