BRIER PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES
February 21, 2024
7:00 PM
Chair DeMorett called the
Brier Planning Commission meeting to order at 7:00 PM.
ROLL CALL:
Present: Commissioners DeMorett, Hanson, Ficker, Parsons and Rosman.
Absent: Commissioners Campbell and Schneider.
Staff: Planner Michaelis.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Chair
DeMorett opened for consideration approval of the January 17, 2024 Planning Commission minutes. Motion: Approve the January 17, 2024
Planning Commission minutes, Moved by
Commissioner Rosman, Seconded by
Commissioner Hanson. Motion Carried.
STAFF UPDATES:
Planner Michaelis advised the City Council
approved the five public meetings for the
Comprehensive Plan Update. He also gave an update on what next month's meeting
will look like.
PUBLIC REQUESTS & ORAL COMMUNICATIONS: None.
PUBLIC HEARINGS:
Chair DeMorett opened the Public Hearing at 7:04 PM,
for Conditional Use Permit No. CUP23-12, a secondary dwelling unit located at
3120 236th Street SW. Planner Michaelis reviewed the application
details with a recommendation of approval. The applicant Forrest Lemme
addressed the Commissioners explaining the desire for a secondary dwelling
unit, he is aware of the drainage concerns and will work with the city on this.
Dave Johnson
of Brier, has concerns about land taxation by being able to go through the
Conditional Use process instead of short platting the property.
Commissioner Parsons questioned how the applicant
would handle his current home occupation business location. He asked about the
drainage requirements that will be required for this project and how the
landscape plan permitting process will go.
Commissioners asked clarifying questions.
The Public Hearing closed at 7:29 PM.
Motion:
Recommend approval to City Council, Conditional Use Permit No. CUP23-12,
a secondary dwelling unit located at 3120 236th Street SW, as
written with staff recommended conditions, Moved by Commissioner
Parsons, Seconded by Commissioner Rosman. Motion Carried.
AGENDA FOR NEXT MEETING
(March 20, 2024):
Planner Michaelis advised the Commissioners they
will be having an open house for the Comprehensive Plan Update on the Land Use
and Housing Elements at their next meeting.
He advised the Commissioners that in July their
meeting is the same night as Music in the Park and they may want to change the
meeting date.
ADJOURNMENT:
Chair DeMorett declared the
meeting adjourned at 7:35 PM.
