Chair DeMorett called the Brier Planning Commission meeting to order at 7:00 PM.

ROLL CALL:

Present: Commissioners DeMorett, Campbell, Hanson, Ficker, Parsons and Schneider.

Absent: Commissioner Rosman.

Staff: Planner Michaelis.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:

Chair DeMorett opened for consideration approval of the May 15, 2024 Planning Commission minutes. Motion: Approve the May 15, 2024 Planning Commission minutes, Moved by Commissioner Parsons, Seconded by Commissioner Schneider. Motion Carried.

STAFF UPDATES:

Planner Michaelis gave an update on recent City activity and an update on the timeline for completing the Comprehensive Plan Update.

PUBLIC REQUESTS & ORAL COMMUNICATIONS: None.

PUBLIC HEARING:

Chair DeMorett opened the Public Hearing at 7:06 PM, for a Secondary Dwelling Unit (SDU) for Jeremiah and Ryland Carter, located at 21821 Poplar Way. Planner Michaelis gave a detailed review of the application with a recommendation to approve with conditions. Tim Carter the applicants father addressed the Commissioners and explained the SDU is for him and his wife to live in and be near their son.

Commissioner Hanson asked the applicant about tree protection.

Commissioner Parsons asked about the permits required for this project.

The Public Hearing closed at 7:18 PM.

Motion: To recommend approval to City Council for a Secondary Dwelling Unit located at 21821 Poplar Way, with conditions as written by staff, Moved by Commissioner Schneider, Seconded by Commissioner Hanson. Motion Carried.

AGENDA FOR NEXT MEETING (July 17, 2024):

Planner Michaelis advised at the next meeting they will be holding a Public Hearing on the Comprehensive Plan Transportation and Housing Elements and a Conditional Use Permit for a Secondary Dwelling Unit.
