BRIER PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES
August 21, 2024

called the Brier Planning Commission meeting to order at 7:00 PM.
ROLL CALL:
Present: Commissioners
DeMorett, Campbell, Hanson, Ficker, Parsons and
Schneider.
Absent: Commissioner
Rosman.
Staff: Planner
Michaelis.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Chair DeMorett opened for consideration approval of the July 17, 2024 Planning Commission minutes. Motion: Approve the July 17, 2024 Planning
Commission minutes, Moved by
Commissioner Parsons, Seconded by
Commissioner Schneider. Motion Carried.
STAFF UPDATES:
Planner Michaelis gave an update on
recent Council activity.
PUBLIC REQUESTS & ORAL COMMUNICATIONS:
Barbara Hoppe
of Brier, she is a member of the citizen made Tree Committee and would like a
response regarding their comments they submitted for
updating the tree code. Planner Michaelis acknowledged the city received
comments from a group identifying themselves as the Brier Tree Committee, their
policy suggestions will be added to the draft of the Environmental Element of
the Comprehensive Plan, but any tree code regulations will be looked at on
another date.
Dave Johnson of Brier, asked about replanting trees that
were removed from the right of way on 233rd St SW and 234th
St SW, he would like the city to check if the original plat requires the trees
to be replaced.
PUBLIC HEARING:
Chair
DeMorett opened the Public Hearing at 7:03 PM, for
Conditional Use Permit No. CUP24-02 for a Secondary Dwelling Unit, located at
2828 232nd St SW. Planner Michaelis gave an overview of the
application.
Dave Johnson of Brier, is concerned that he is downhill from
the project and is worried about water runoff from future building.
The
Public Hearing closed at 7:16 PM.
Motion: To recommend approval to City Council for
Conditional Use Permit No. CUP24-02 for a Secondary Dwelling Unit, located at
2828 232nd St SW with conditions as written by staff, Moved by Commissioner Schneider, Seconded by Commissioner Hanson. Motion
Carried.
AGENDA FOR NEXT MEETING (September 18, 2024):
Planner
Michaelis advised the Commissioners that the remaining meetings this year will
all be working on the Comprehensive Update.
