BRIER PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES

January 15, 2025
7:00 PM



Chair Pro-Tem Rosman called the Brier Planning Commission meeting to order at 7:00 PM.

 

ROLL CALL:

Present: Commissioners Ficker, Hanson, Parsons, Rosman and Schneider.

Absent: Commissioners Campbell and DeMorett.

Staff: City Planner Michaelis.

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:

Chair Pro-Tem Rosman opened for consideration approval of the November 20, 2024 Planning Commission minutes. Motion: Approve the November 20, 2024 Planning Commission minutes, Moved by Commissioner Hanson, Seconded by Commissioner Parsons. Motion Carried.


STAFF UPDATES:

Commissioner Rosman announced that he is moving out of state in June 2025.

 

PUBLIC REQUESTS & ORAL COMMUNICATIONS: None.


STUDY ITEMS:

A.    Chair Pro-Tem Rosman opened for discussion the Middle Housing Bills, E2SHB 1110 and ESHB 2321 and Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) bill EHB 1337. Planner Michaelis laid out the calendar timeline for the adoption of these code amendments.

 

B.    Chair Pro-Tem Rosman opened for review the proposed Middle Housing and Accessory Dwelling Units Brier Municipal Code (BMC) Amendments No. CA25-01. Planner Michaelis presented the following attachments:

A.    BMC 17.04 Definitions

B.    BMC 17.24 Use Districts

C.    BMC 17/29 Single Family Residential

D.    BMC Parking and Vehicle Storage

E.    Department of Commerce Model Ordinance

 

The Commissioners reviewed and made recommendations on each attachment of the Code Amendments. Motion: To have Staff apply the recommended changes discussed tonight and bring the Code Amendments to a Public Hearing at the next meeting, Moved by Commissioner Parsons, Seconded by Commissioner Hanson. Motion Carried.


MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS:

Chair Pro-Tem Rosman opened for discussion to elect a Chair for 2025.

 

Motion: Commissioner Parsons nominated Commissioner Rosman for Chair, Moved by Commissioner Parsons, Seconded by Commissioner Schneider. Motion Carried.

 

Motion: Commissioner Rosman nominated Commissioner Parsons for Pro-Tem, Moved by Commissioner Rosman, Seconded by Commissioner Hanson. Motion Carried.


AGENDA FOR NEXT MEETING (February 19, 2025):

Planner Michaelis advised the Commissioners there may be a Conditional Use Permit and the Code Amendments for Public Hearings held at the next meeting.

 

ADJOURNMENT:

Chair Pro-Tem Rosman declared the meeting adjourned at 8:09 PM.
