Boards and Commissions

The following board and commission members are appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council.

If you are interested in participating, send the Mayor a short letter to request consideration for a position. Be sure to include which board or commission you are interested in.

Planning Commission

The seven member commission is responsible for reviewing and making recommendations to the City Council on the City's Comprehensive Plan, land use management legislation and regulations, potential annexations, and sub-area planning. Commission members serve two-year terms. Meetings are held every third Wednesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the Brier City Council Chambers.

    Library Board

    Six members serve four-year terms and meet the first Thursday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in February, April, June, September, and November at the library.



    Parks & Recreation Board
    The Park Board
    The Park Board advises the Council on matters concerning parks and recreation. Seven members serve four-year terms and meet on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Brier City Council Chambers.

    In addition, this team produces and manages several annual events including Music in the Park, SeaScare, Dog-O-Ween, Holiday Tree Lighting and the Traditional Egg Hunt. Plus they participate in and support National Night Out, SeaCumber Day and KidScare.



    Civil Service Commission

    A Civil Service Commission for the Police Department is required by state law. The commission oversees entry level and promotional examinations and disciplinary action for police personnel. Three members serve six-year terms. Meeting times vary based on the availability of the commissioners.
